All Liszt and Hoiby Too!
St. James Church, Chatham, NY
Hudson Chamber Opera's Alaina Zachary, soprano, and pianist Uel Wade in
a concert including the songs of Liszt for voice and piano:
O Lieb', Oh! Quand Je Dors, Comment, disaient-ils and Benedetto sia 'l
giorno from Liszt's settings of Petrarch sonnets. Mr. Wade offered a selection
of Liszt arrangements of songs for piano.
The second half of the program featured a long excerpt from Lee Hoiby's
musical monologue "The Italian Lesson", based upon the Ruth
Draper monologue of the same name.

North Pointe Cultural Arts Center

Coordinated by Gwen Gould, this concert featured Hudson Chamber Opera
Advisory board member, Nancy Allen Lundy, soprano, in a performance of
Samuel Barber's "Knoxville, Summer of 1915," based on remembrances
of author James Agee's childhood. The program also included readings by
actor Daniel Region of selections from the works of James Agee and Edith
Wharton. The program concluded with a selection of rags from the turn
of the (20th) century performed by Gwen's Grace & Beauty Ragtime Band.
