Diamond Opera Theater
(formerly Hudson Chamber Opera)
is a dedicated ensemble of gifted artists - singers, musicians, actors,
composers, writers, directors, designers, choreographers, stage technicians,
artisans - whose sole purpose is the creation of fully staged and costumed
productions of exciting and entertaining works for the lyric stage.
The repertoire includes works that are seldom seen or heard, as well as small-scale productions of more familiar works, performed primarily in English and accompanied by the Diamond Opera Orchestra whenever possible. The programming is designed to entertain and to stretch your musical experience.
Our performances take place in various venues including The Hudson Opera House, where renovation will soon be completed; Basilica Industria, our seasonal waterfront home;Christ Church Episcopal, an historic church built in 1857; and Space 360, a unique space for community and corporate events; all in the heart of the bustling, newly revitalized city of Hudson, NY, the first chartered city in the United States (1785).
A typical season will include productions in the spring and fall as well as operas for children during the school year.
